Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a complete system of healthcare focused on the restoration and optimisation of health through natural hands-on care.

Although focus is directed most commonly to individual segments of the spine, working on the entire nervous system (which is of fundamental importance to health and wellness) is a way to optimise the health of the entire human system and not just a means to relieve back pain.

The Nervous System controls the smooth running of the rest of the body. Any interference to this system (that can develop through injury, surgery, stress/worry build up and even birth) can have knock on effects. This can include tissue distortion leading to muscular tension and restrictions in our joints – leading to pain and nerve entrapment. Also our quality of life enjoyment can be affected as our tolerance to stress and dealing with life and work can diminish. We can loose connection to ourselves and things become heavier.

With all of this in mind, you don’t have to present with any kind of pain to have a spinal check or receive gentle Chiropractic care. We get our teeth checked regularly. What bony structure would you consider to be more important based on how important our nervous system is the functioning of the rest of the body? Our teeth or our spine?

At The White Room I offer various techniques depending on individual needs including Kinesiology, basic Acupuncture (dry needling), Activator Method, Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), Craniosacral Work, Biogeometric Integration (BGI) and Network Spinal – an evidence-based approach to wellness and body awareness. Due to the gentle nature anyone can benefit from this work, and all are welcome. Including mums-to-be and newborns.

Each session is unique as I work with what is presenting in the moment. I work intuitively and often modalities can cross over depending on what is needed. Most commonly the first stage of any session involves reducing the stress response in the nervous system using some BGI or Network Spinal contacts. This then can often lead to more manual methods (or not depending on the systems response), then craniosacral contacts are often used to rebalance and centre at the end of the session. If I feel any exercises or specific yoga would be beneficial, I will offer this advice through demonstration and coaching. I also offer one-to-one yoga sessions if it is something people want support with.

I like to share information as much as I can in the form of pictures, diagrams, sometimes through yoga or a somatic experience or breathwork where appropriate, so that clients can gain a new understanding, a new depth of connection and awareness of their bodies and system which can enable further growth and support at home.
